How To Style: Your Fashion Week Look

"Both AFI Fashion Week and South African Fashion Week are upon us this month and the street style game is gonna be strong"!

South African Fashion Week (SAFW) is upon us this month and the street style game is gonna be strong! We are all about the fashion and always intrigued to see what South African designers are up to and inspired by. This year SAFW is celebrating 21 years as the pioneers of Fashion Weeks in Africa.

Here are our favourite trends from recent Fashion Weeks the world over and obviously our in-house stylist’s advice on how to wear each look best.

Tartan: Whether it’s inspired by your favorite 90s movie or just because it looks really preppy, this trend looks great styled as a classic all-over tartan ensemble or paired with a solid black or breezy white accent. Choose a great structured bag to compliment the look and choose a fun pair of sunnies to keep it real.

Monochromes: It just never goes out of style. From suits and dresses to skirts and accessories, the monochrome look is always one to take inspiration from. We love it styled so many ways that we actually wrote a whole article about it – go see it here.

Ruffles: Ruffles were seen all over London Fashion Week and it’s obvious why. Ruffles add a contemporary, feminine look and can be worn in so many ways. This is another trend we styled a while back, so go check out our tips to make this look work for you this season.

Brights: Another trend we saw coming a mile away and even did a Trend Watch a while ago. Colour blocking was the most prominent way the trend was styled this year and it always works. Choose complimenting colours and play with textures and different fabrics to create some depth in the look. Style it with metallic accessories, a great shoulder bag and your favourite nude pumps or ankle boots.

Bold Prints: We adore bold prints and mixing and matching the right patterns and tones take serious skill. From choosing the right combinations and colour play, we think it’s a fun look and our team put a whole article together on how to style this look successfully.
