It’s that time of year where fashion editors are expected to know all the ins and outs in fashion. But let us tell you a secret – there are so many trends in fashion orbit, that it really just comes down to which trends editors think are gonna rock it this year or not. We go with our intuition, because we simply cannot predict every current trend that will be big this coming year. So let’s get to it and see which trends made our final cut for 2018.
Romantic, Still: Sheer is just exploding all over the place right now. We love the textures and romantic feel the look expels. From rocking this with your favourite skinnies and pumps, to a night out with a long-sleeved mesh dress – you can’t go wrong with sheer clothing this year.
Tropical Colours: Dreaming of an island holiday so early in the year is totally normal. Bright tropical colours melted into primary tones are huge this year. We love it on a maxi dress or even on a beautifully embroidered kimono.
Vixen Alert: PVC is sexy and oh so 90s. We love the trend paired with anything tight – like, it just has to be! This sculpted varnish Balmain skirt looks great with a graphic T, detailed belt and a matching backpack. Also, this snow-white hair is a huge trend for 2018.
Buckle Boots: From ankle booties to thigh-highs – we want to see rock and roll details on your feet. Added buckles, straps and studs add the perfect aesthetic for this 70s Debbie Harry inspired look.
The Bold Shoulder: Marques’ Almeida showed of these über bold shoulders in the 2018 Resort show. This contemporary look is great paired with casual elements like denim shorts and sliders.
Birds Of A Feather: The epiphany of class. Feathers are a beautiful aesthetic to add to any luxury piece. It looks great as an accent on an accessory like a clutch bag, but it’s also ultra cool to take your feather fetish all the way by wearing a full-feathered dress or an over the top feathered bomber.
Sport Luxe: Sport Luxe plays a huge role in the essence of streetsyle fashion. We love it because it’s timeless. Miu Miu sent model after model down the runway at their Resort 2018 show in motor-sport type uniforms paired with rich, textured, oversized jackets.
Graphic Impressions: Prada’s Spring Summer 2018 collection paid homage to illustrative art by incorporating comic-type prints in the collection. A busy print like this looks great styled with monochrome’s – preferably in primary colours. Go for yellows, reds and blues to brighten up the look or keep it simple in black and white.
