Winter is here and there’s nothing we can do about it other than styling the f*ck out of our looks. The best way to do that, is without a doubt, with a killer coat. With so many styles to choose from you can rarely go wrong with any. We love an oversized coat, but choosing a cosy crop may be right up your alley. Here are our favourites.
Bright Furs: Seen everywhere! This is our number one choice this season and the puffier, the better. Obviously you don’t have to choose fur – we’re vegetarians, so we prefer a faux on any day. Pair your coat with a classic monochrome dress or suit and fancy shades.
Patent Leather: It doesn’t matter in which shape or size, the patent leather jacket is sleek and sophisticated. The jacket’s edgy feel can take any boring outfit from frumpy to foxy in seconds. We love pairing blacks with dark earthy tones and camels like below, so try it with a fitted midi skirt or tailored slacks. Throw on a great belt and matching clutch or shoulder bag.
Extra-Long Camel Trench: There’s a reason Cake sang the lyrics, I want a girl with a short skirt and a looooong jacket – because, duh it looks amazing. We briefly touched on the long jacket swag in our Outfits To Ease You Into Winter post and like we said, invest in a good quality coat and it will last you a lifetime. Pair it with, well, obviously a short skirt or your favourite skinnies and ballet flats or loafers.
The Statement Coat: When you choose a statement coat, don’t hold back. Go with a style and aesthetic that is eccentric and really speaks volumes about your personality. They are hard to come by and that is exactly what makes them so unique. Rock your statement coat with a minimalistic outfit that won’t take any of its glory away. We love a statement coat in bright colours, florals and candy stripes.
Shearling: Nothing says 1976 like a shearling coat. If your style is more boho than anything else then this coat is a must have! We love it extra wooly on the inside, styled with an on-trend printed pussy bow or collared blouse. Rock it with your hair messy and minimal make up.
