How To Style: Micropleats

"Taking inspiration from 70s retro-cool, this trend is fancy and fun all in one go".

Oh, the micropleat… What a wonderful trend! From being incorporated by granny-chic vibes and even taking inspiration from 70s retro-cool, this trend is fancy and fun all in one go! Its rise to success over the last year has allowed the fashion-savvy a wide variety to choose from, as you can get your hands on a micropleated garment from ready-to-wear designer collections and at most on-trend retailers. Here are our favourite ways of styling the micropleated skirt.

1. As a maxi. The micropleats add great volume to the maxi skirt. Pair it with a structured blouse or even a textured sweater as pictured below. The look goes great with open sandals or a pair of closed pumps.

2. Choose a micropleat in a metallic material and keep it casual by incorporating your staple denim jacket and a basic T with  your favourite flats.  Keep your accessories to a minimum if you want to show off the shiny fabric, and round it off  with a great pair of cat-eye sunnies.

3. Sporty. Show off your sexy calves in a midi, micropleated skirt, along with graphic socks and a pair of on-trend sneakers. Couple your ensemble with a great bomber or traditional knitted sweater. The look will go great with a backpack or even a cross-body bag.

4. Nothing is more playful than a micropleated mini skirt! Keep it flirty with a graphic sweater and killer booties. We also love the skirt styled casually with a shoulder bag and a great statement necklace .

5.Pattern it up! It adds a great illusion to the fabric, giving the look more dimension and depth. We love it  when styled with a monotone aesthetic in mind. Rock the look with bright pumps in a complimenting colour and a muted cardi.
